The Autumn/Winter fashion season for 2013 kicked off in full force on Thursday night in Melbourne with Myer’s Seasonal Fashion Launch.
Jennifer Hawkins and Kris Smith headed up a team of gorgeous girls and guys on the catwalk to model the latest trends. The colour palette this season was more muted from previous seasons, but winter florals, leather silhouettes, and metallics took center stage.
To compliment the fashion, Yves Saint Laurent were the makeup sponsors and created a 60’s inspired flick.
Yves Saint Laurent makeup for this season has a strong influence of the 60’s flick with a modern twist. The black eyeliner is prominent over the entire lid and is very matte in texture, juxtaposing the luminous, polished, dewy skin. Brows are sculpted and groomed, whilst cheeks are softly flushed and dewy. A barely there mouth elegantly finishes this modern, wearable look.
Here’s how to achieve this look…
STEP 1: Start by applying a base of Le Teint Touché Éclat over the entire face, blending well into the neck and jaw line using a foundation brush. Conceal under the eye and highlight the face (cheek bones, temples, chin and external lip line) using Touché Éclat. If extra coverage or concealing is needed, use YSL Anti-Cernes Concealer for extra coverage and lightly powder.
STEP 2: When trying to achieve the perfect retro flick, map the desired shape of eyeliner out first using YSL Eyeliner Effet Faux Cil Pen #1 in black. Place a small dot where you want the tip of the flick to end, then draw a line connecting the dot to the outer corner of the eye. Next, draw another line from the dot in a downwards motion connecting to the inner corner of the eye. Fill in the shape with YSL Eyeliner Effect Faux Cil Creme #1 in black. To achieve the velvet-matte finish to the eye colour, apply YSL Pure Chromatics Eyeshadow Palette #11 using an eyeliner brush for a more precise application. YSL Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cil #1 in black is used just at the roots of the lashes to intensify the lash line.
STEP 3: Brows are full and sculpted using YSL Eyebrow Pencil to match natural colour. Cheeks are softly flushed using a mixture of YSL Blush Radiance #1 & #4. Blend colours together with you Kabuki brush, and starting from the apples of the cheeks blend softly towards the jaw line.
STEP 4: Lips are softly muted and remain moist with blended colours of YSL Rouge Volupte Shine #8 & Rouge Pur Couture #43. To finish this look, a soft dusting of YSL Matte Radiant Pressed Powder is applied to the T-Zone only.
