You might’ve noticed we’re into our accessories here at HFB, so as Fashion week winds down we’re bringing you a must-read accent update. Pens at the ready – here are three new accessory rules direct from the Sydney streetstyle set:
1. GO HANDS FREE
Addicted to carrying your life around in your tote? Time to downsize, downsize, downsize. From beaded clutches to slick portfolios and teeny-tiny hard cases, it’s all about the handheld bag this season. Forget the long strap numbers and hefty shoulder bags, pack light and feel the benefits on your weary shoulders (ahhh.)
2. FOLLOW THE GOLD STANDARD
Chunky gold jewels have been a major trend at the international shows for several seasons running, and the local scene is following suit. Make like Italian style icon Anna Dello Russo and layer them on thick (the more OTT the better) or streamline with one glam gold accent like a man-style watch. Maximalist or minimalist – the choice is yours.
3. PICK A CLEAR WINNER
Transparent accessories are one of the standout looks of the week, from bags to jewels to those diamante-studded Valentino heels (sigh, a splurge and a half on Net-A-Porter.) Our favourite interpretation so far? DIY blogger Geneva Vanderzeil of A pair and a spare’s clear PVC bag, cleverly displaying her baby Mulberry clutch inside. We’ll be copycatting!
