Giving your week a fiery start we’ve got the sexy second instalment of our team style files, with Lucette Romy: visual artist, a model, a stylist, a gluten-free vegan and of course Her Fashion Box’s PR Manager. We chat to her about her artist’s inspirations, nostalgia for late 70’s style, sunglasses obsession and her latest Sass and Bide splurge!

Being Her Fashion Box’s PR Manager, what does this mean you get up to in the office?

I just work as an all-rounder, trend spotter, social media manager and brand partnership contact!

Fill us in… what’s your signature style?

Lately I have been wearing a lot of black and white. I love stripes and anything grey marl. I don’t know if I have a signature style really, I guess if I had to say anything I would be laid back chic… with a twist? Haha!

What’s one of your favourite style icons from history and one from today?

I can never go past the styling’s of Edie Sedgwick, one of the original it girls. A style icon I love from today is definitely a tie between Erin Wasson and Nicole Richie. They both always look incredibly cool and can pull off the most amazing evening styles.

Do you have any tips for mixing and matching this season?

I’ve never been a big fan of mixing prints, but I always recommend matching prints with a black or white staple item or alternatively a colour that ties in with the print. Polka dots will be big this season and I know I’ll be wearing my polka dot skirt with a white cropped tee or singlet.

Tell us about your biggest fashion investment piece.

Well recently I bought the most incredible silk pair from Sass and Bide and let’s just say they will never be leaving my wardrobe. The super silk white palazzo pants are here to stay.

What set your sights on such a unique piece?

I have always wanted a pair of white palazzo pants; I think I must’ve seen them somewhere when I was younger, perhaps on my mum. She always had the most amazing pant suits, some of which I have been lucky enough to adopt. I have always found them so incredibly timeless and classic, yet trendy and summery at the same time. I feel as if I could literally wear them anywhere, to the beach with a band tee or out at night with some heels and a nice crop.

If you had all the money in the world, which brands would you splurge on?

I can never look past Alexander Wang, Celine and Balmain. A little bit of everything and all have the most to die for pieces.

As an artist, do you find fashion inspires your art or maybe your art inspires what you wear?

Definitely. I am always so inspired by fashion when it comes to my art, though I never actually draw or paint anyone wearing anything. My art is incredibly colourful unlike my wardrobe, but I always feel that there is a connection with what I am inspired by and the content matching what the latest trend is like floral or skulls.

If you could live in any fashion decade, what would it be?

The late 70’s were epic: the high waisted cheeky swimwear, the leopard print, the hats, the metallics and the leather. But they have all come back in a big way, or are making a comeback. High waisted and cheeky cut swimwear will be a big one this summer along with wide brimmed hats.

What do you wear to feel confident?

Usually I will wear whatever makes me feel the best depending on my mood and the weather. I always like to wear some nice fine gold jewellery to add a little bit of bling to my outfit.

Do you feel you’ve learnt anything new about accessorising while you’ve been at HFB?

HFB has definitely opened my eyes a bit more to other accessory styles and the variety in fashion accessories. I think it’s important to remember that though not everyone may have the same taste there is so much on offer for different styles, which is great!

What do you look for when you shop?

Usually it depends on the season and if I need anything in particular. Otherwise, I just go for comfort and something I think I will get a lot of wear from. I tend to purchase more sunglasses and bikinis though, out of anything. I could go into a store to get a new pair of jeans and leave with two pairs of sunglasses and a bikini easily… it’s happened before. I have over 20 pairs of sunglasses and over 30 bikinis, haha!
